I sat down next to Zevah as she kept saying it was just a dream. Very soon though she stopped speaking and i heard her heartbeat slow down. She must be sleeping.....I didn't feel like leaving so i laid down and relaxed as the sun warmed my back. Before i knew it i was waking up from sleeping. Zigor had curled up on my right. The sun was slowly setting in the distance, and Zevah still hadn't woken up. I had a worried look on my face till I saw her look up at me. My expression instantly changed to a standard look. Zevah stood up and bowed her head in defeat. She said kinda mournfully, "It's all just a dream, Zillah." She sighed and told me to take Zigor home and that she'd follow in a little bit. I was genuinely worried about Zevah. this dream was causing that much sorrow, worry, and defeat. "You gonna be okay?" Zevah shook her head up and down but didn't say anything. I picked up Zigor who was still asleep and carried him back the way we came. On the way back i ran next to a stream. I scented a beaver and came upon its nest a way down. I quickly killed the beaver and woke Zigor so he could eat some. Having fed Zigor i picked him and ran back to the tree line. I morphed back into my human form and put on my clothes that i hid in a hollow tree. I reached the house and went inside. i got Zigor a bowl and filled it with water. He eagerly drank it down. We went into the living room to watch tv and wait for Zevah to come back.

I nodded my head to Zillah, and veered off in a direction I hadn't been before. I ran at a constant speed, not slowing down. Tree's blurred to every angle behind me. I ran on and on, losing my since of direction. A large log laid in my path in front of me. It was too large to clear, but I didn't even listen to my own reasoning. I leaped, stretching my front legs out and tucking my back legs in. I was in the clear, my front legs were over and I felt my back legs just tip the top of the log. But my landing was off, I heard the snap before I knew what happen. I land on all four of my paws. Then the searing pain hit. I lifted my front right paw up, tucking it under me. The dog-like whimpers erupted from me uncontrollably. I cursed myself. I laid down there, carefully placing my paw down in front of me, and laid my head down on my other paw. I forced myself to stop whining, to ignore the pain, to get up and walk away like nothing had happened. At first I limped, but that made me feel weak. I then added pressure to the hurt paw, wincing as the pain shot up my leg. I ignored it. I pushed myself on. Slowly I walked on with only a small limp. One that I knew no one that saw me from a distance would notice. I quickened my pace. My head was screaming at me to stop, to give in to the pain, but I wouldn't. Soon enough, I was running again. I forced myself to not think of the pain, not to even think of the stupid choice I made that caused it. I made my way threw the forest, back towards home. Still cursing myself.
The clearing came into view where I had left my clothes at. I walked up to the tree hollow and saw that Zillah's clothes were already gone, leaving mine there. I paced back and forth in front of the tree. I knew that when I changed back into my human form the pain would intensify. I wouldn't be able to hide it from Zillah. The cursing continued. He would try to be Dr.Zillah again. It was well into the evening and I was due home hours ago, so I morphed back. The pain hit me, and tears streaked my face. Soon the swelling kicked in and the discoloration. I put on my clothes with one hand, envying my lack of strength. As soon as I was finished getting dressed I began walking the rest of the way home. I examined my hand as I walked. It was turning purple. "damn it." It was broken, there wasn't any doubt. Zillah would try to keep me from going out the next day. I whipped away the tears as the back door came into view. I took the first step up onto the stairs then stepped off of them. I paced back and forth in the grass, until Zillah opened the door. He looked like he was about to say something until he saw my hand. Zillah didn't like when I hurt myself, and a lot of times he'd be angry with me because he knew it was my fault. His expression changed from one of welcoming to a cold stare.

I heard some pacing going on outside our back door...the one facing the woods. 'It has to be Zevah...' I opened the back door and sure enough it was Zevah. But something was wrong...I looked at her hand which she was favoring. Purple and swelling. My welcome turned cold. I could almost always tell what was wrong with other people. It just happened. "Broken wrist...come on lets ice it down." Zevah glared at me for doing the Dr. thing. We went inside and applied pressure and ice. "Did you get anything to eat on the way in?" it wasn't a worried or hurried question, just a question. Zevah replied saying "No..." It was a slightly pain filled reply. "I'll go out and get you something if you'll be okay." Zevah shook her head up and down. "You want to come....fine" Zevah looked surprised. I could tell that she wasn't expecting me to let her go out again till her wrist was healed. "Come on you need the fresh meat to heal." I was still slightly grumpy but her wolf form would help her heal along with the fresh meat.
We got to the tree line and morphed into our wolf forms. I could tell that Zevah was handling the pain better now that she morphed. With a slight limp Zevah walked into the forest for the second time that day. We got fairly far into the forest before we across a pack of wild turkeys. I was sure if i drew one far enough away me and Zevah could take it...maybe just me. I wasn't willing to risk it. I had heard dangerous stories from scarred wolves about the turkeys. If you can get em away from the flock your fine but if you can't run as fast as you can. "Zevah wait here, ill try and draw one to you so you can get it by surprise." Zevah nodded and went into cover. I dashed at the turkeys trying to get the one who was straggling back to come after me.
It took about five minutes to fully get the turkey coming after me. I slowly trotted to where Zevah was, to make the turkey thing i was just an ordinary wolf. Once i passed the tree where Zevah was hiding i ran as fast as I could to the front of me and did a U-turn at a tree. I ran back to see Zevah holding the turkey in a death grip by its throat. I whispered to her so as to not attract the flock of turkeys slowly retreating into the woods behind her. "Good job. once your done with that we'll head back." Zevah started to strip the turkey of meat. With blood dripping on the grass all that was left was bones. We went back the way we came. Trotting we were at the edge of the woods in minutes.

And so it begins. Dr.Zillah calling me into his office. I glared at him as he held the door open for me, waiting for me to walk through. I walked through the door and stepped over to the island. I pulled out one of the bar stools and sat down in it, slouching down and laying my arm down on the counter top wrist up. I imagined the x-ray machine and Zillah in a white coat which made me smile for a split second before he laid a bag of ice down on my wrist. The pain seared up my arm, the other hand forming a fist. Zillah then laid his hand down on the bag of ice which made it hurt more. My head screamed in pain. I was tempted to hit Zillah. It was the most easiest thing to do, to cause pain to someone else to make myself forget about mine for only that time being. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. He was trying to help, and besides, it would prove pointless to hit him when he'd come back after me and most likely inflict more damage. Or he'd do nothing and make me suffer in regret for hitting him when he was just trying to help me. That was Zillah. What ever came to his mind first when I did stupid shit like that was what would happen. I simply winced at the pain instead of being violent. "Did you get anything to eat on the way in?" was he really trying to talk to me at this moment? I pushed away the mood that wanted to set in because of the pain. "No..." I spoke threw clinched teeth. "I'll go out and get you something if you'll be okay." I nodded my head. He knew I would rather get my own meal, and an argument right now, would not settle nicely with me already hurt. "You want to come....fine" my eyes widened in shock. Did he just say what I think he just said? "Come on, you need the fresh meat to heal." He moved the ice from my wrist and I hopped happily out of the chair, until it hit me. He had something planned, something that will make me of rather stayed home. I shook my head and walked out the door, figuring Zigor would be fine alone.
We walked into the forest and morphed, leaving our clothes in the tree hollow. The searing pain intensified for only a moment as I stepped down onto it. Then it subsided, only making me slightly limp. We walked on through the forest which was a little odd, as we only walk when we have Zigor, but he isn't with us. We were well deep into the forest as I heard the gobbling from wild turkeys' before I even saw them. Zillah stopped a little ways off so I copied. "Zevah wait here. I'll try and draw one to you so you can get it by surprise." I nodded my head and ducked down behind a tree and a tall bush. Surprise attacks were my favorite. I waited what seemed like forever before I saw Zillah trot up to me. I readied myself and leaped as the turkey ran by. I landed on it gripping its neck in mid air. We hit the ground and I felt the pain shoot up my leg. I winced and clinched my jaws shut, hearing the bones crack in the turkeys neck. Zillah spoke low, knowing how the turkey's could be. "Good job. once your done with that we'll head back." Zillah whispered to me. I didn't care to reply back or even acknowledge his praise. I simply began plucking its feathers and eating the fresh meat. It didn't take long to finish the turkey, but it subsided my hunger and my pain. I didn't walk with a limp any longer as we made are way for home. My seances returned to normal but I knew the pain would return as soon as we morphed back. I edge of the forest was near so we found the tree hollow. Soon enough we were morphed back and returning to the house. It was well into the night now, and I was tired after a long day of pain and sorrow.

Entering the house we saw Zigor lying comfortably on our couch. Somehow he had managed to turn on the television. I went to see what channel it had turned to....cartoons....The young bobcat had turned the tv to cartoons.... I laughed out loud at what Zigor had done. Zevah walked in and laughed at Zigor despite her pain. I turned off the tv and got Zigor more water. As Zigor lapped up the water I told Zevah that He was sleeping in her room tonight. I didn't know what was in Zevah's room. Like her i had never been in her room except for that first day, and her vice verse. "You might want to put any breakable valuables up where he can't reach it" Zevah shrugged and said she was going to bed. Seeing her hurt arm was still slightly swollen and bruised, i picked Zigor up and put him in front of her door. I didn't feel like intruding in her personal space so i just went into my room and went to bed.

The house had annoying sounds coming from the living room, so I made my way to see what it as. Zillah was there before me, and I walked in just in time to see what the noise was. Zigor was splayed out on the couch on his back watching cartoons upside down. I laughed at him, able to forget my pain for that moment. Zigor is definitely an odd one. When the laughing had ceased, and the pain had continued, Zillah turned off the TV, and picked up Zigor. He took him into the kitchen so I followed. It was good to see Zillah taking care of Zigor. I didn't think he would do it, seeing as he doesn't like felines much. I shrugged and a pain shot up my arm. I clenched my teeth, and swallowed down the pain. "Zigor's sleeping in your room tonight." Zillah said while I was still getting over the pain. At that moment I could of cared less. "You might want to put any breakable valuables up where he can't reach it." he continued. I shrugged again, forgetting I shouldn't of done that, and another pain shot up my arm. I got a headache from gritting my teeth together so hard. "I'm gunna go die in bed now." I said to Zillah half sarcastically. I walked up the stairs, figuring either Zillah would bring me Zigor, or Zigor himself would follow. I walked into my room, leaving the door open. I didn't even feel like changing clothes. I noticed Zigor was sitting in my room now, so I went and shut my door. I picked Zigor up with my good hand and laid him at the end of my bed. I walked around to the other side and crawled into bed. I got under the covers and immediately Zigor has looking at me right in the face, only inches away from mine. I petted him and he laid down again, only this time, much closer. I sighed, and ignore it.
I sat there and stared at the ceiling. It was 5:30am and I hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. Zigor on the other hand, laid there the entire time just a snoozing. Lucky fella. I watched him as he yawned and stretched and then curled back into a ball, falling asleep once again. I turned over onto my side and set my alarm clock for 7am. If I wasn't asleep by then I would be leaving and going into the forest. I would find a place I could sleep at in my wolf form. damn human form. What is it good for? The time passed slowly. Never got a wink of sleep. 6:59am was on the clock and I hit the button to turn off the alarm before it went off. I got up out of bed, and Zigor followed. I opened the door and watched and Zigor hopped down the stairs. "Crazy cat's gunna hurt himself." I spoke out loud and I heard a chuckle behind me.

I chuckled as Zevah said the cat was going to kill himself. "The cat will be fine. Now i suspect that you didn't sleep all that well either?" Zevah shook her head yes and went down the stairs after Zigor. I followed shortly after. Zevah was already going out the door and into the chilly morning. Zigor came following after us...i guess he didn't want to be left alone with cartoons again. So using the same routine as always when entering the forest, we got into our wolf forms and ran off into the forest. Zevah was ignoring her pain...so it seemed at that moment. About ten minutes later we were back at the same ridge as yesterday. "Hm....Odd ridge isn't?" I asked Zevah. There was a silence on the ridge for a bit. I couldn't really hear anything. It was quite ominous...and i didn't really like that....Good place to sleep though. I laid down and waited for Zevah to speak, if she was going to.

Of course he'll be fine, because we are here for him. He had guessed my problem, so I just nodded my head, and headed down the stairs. I didn't care to announce I was leaving, I just did. It obviously wasn't fast enough. I wanted to go alone, but I would never deny them the right to follow me. They are my pack, both Zillah and Zigor. I walked on at my own pace. Slowly, seeming almost like forever, we reached the forest. Removing the restraints I morphed into my wolf form. The pain nearly ceased. I walked on with the two following, but soon, walking wasn't enough. I jogged and Zigor had to run his fastest just to keep up. His stamina didn't last long, soon he was falling behind. I dropped back and picked him up by the scruff. I nearly flew through the forest. Zillah was almost falling behind. I knew I was faster then him, and I knew he was running his fastest. But too soon did the ledge appear in front of me. The same ledge from yesterday. My paws had brought me here rather then my mind. There in front of us, that same endless blue peace. This is where I would sleep. This is where it was so easy to sleep. I felt dead. I had used my last energy in the run. I dropped to the ground after setting Zigor next to the panting Zillah. I didn't care, nor did I have the energy to make myself comfortable. I simply closed my eyes. I felt the presence of Zillah by my side, and felt Zigor lay down against me. I had no energy to talk. "Hm... Odd ridge isn't it?" Zillah spoke out. I wanted to answer him, to agree with him, but I could do nothing but grunt. I listened to the waves and the heartbeats. But soon, I heard nothing but the water. The way it attacked the ledge base. How it gathered itself. Then again, another attack. It continued endlessly. Again and again. It seemed to hold a melody. The breeze off the sea cradled my fur. The environment put me into a trance. I could no longer move myself. All I could do... all I wanted to do... was to go to sleep, was to give in, and that's exactly what I did.
Dreamless. Everything was so... blank. Nothing was there. Nothing to think about. I was awake, but still, I was asleep. I laid there unmoving, but I was very well conscience to the movements and breathing around me. Zigor wasn't asleep. His breathing was too quick and his ear twitched as he heard the water. Zillah wasn't asleep either, but he laid there. He was watching me. I knew what was happening. He was trying to figure me out. Trying to educate himself of the wolf that was changing in front of him. The same wolf that he had known all his life. The same wolf that attracted him and could always win over his attention. He didn't understand that I could never take him as a mate, or anything other then the pack mate that he was already. Somewhere inside him, he already knew this. But he didn't understand it. Just like Zigor didn't understand why we had killed his mother. He didn't understand why he chose to accept us, even after the death of his birth mother. It was a decision he didn't really understand why he chose. But he made that decision, just as I chose the decision to not take Zillah as a concert. To not make our own pack. I wouldn't ever tell him of this decision, but he would one day realize it. If he hadn't already. Finally my mind gave into sleep. I could no longer hear the heartbeat clash together, or the waves against the land. Just nothingness. What I wanted hours ago.

I hear the waves trying to remove the rock wall that had been holding them back for so long. I could tell Zevah and Zigor were listening to it and being absorbed in it. It was a mystery, how something so simple could control and delude. I watched Zevah focused on the waves and yet on everything around her. Slowly the beating of the waves and the sweet sea breeze put me to sleep. It was a cold sleep...kind of like the moment i morphed into a human...only now there wasn't anything, just black unending space. No light, no kind of brightness to be seen anywhere.
I woke suddenly. the beating of the waves had calmed for the most part. I was the only one who had woken up. It was still bright out, the sun was maybe 3/4 of the way through its course to the mountains in the west. I wondered if i was still dreaming...if you could call it dreaming. 'What could i do in the real world that i couldn't do in a dream?' I guess the fact that i could keep a straight train of thought was one thing that proved i wasn't in a dream. I decided to forget all this dreaming business and go hunt something. I jogged silently into the forest to look for something...anything really.
About a mile into the forest i got the scent of deer. I followed it till i could smell its scent in the grove in front of me. The deer was a young doe. I circled around behind it making sure to make no noise at all. Once i was behind it I leapt out and snapped my jaws around its neck as it tried to jump and flee from the wolf on its back. Blood spurted from the wounds as the deer writhed as its life's blood quickly oozed on to the forest floor. I quickly ate half of it and dragged the other half back to the ledge. I looked at the sun to see about what time it was. The sun was close to setting. I reached the ledge as the sun reached the tip of the mountains. Zevah was still sleeping, but Zigor was waking. I dragged the deer over to him so he could eat some of it. I looked at the mountains in the distance to see a magnificent sight. The reds and oranges and pinks were all perfectly balanced. It was intoxicating really. I looked at the deer to see not only Zigor but Zevah eating. "Enjoy your nap?" i said jokingly.

A dream finally reached me. I was following a path through the forest. One I hadn't traveled before. It took me over hills and across meadows. Around trees and through a river. I let the path engrave itself in my mind as I continued. Suddenly a huge cliff arose in front of me. My paws continued on even when I tried to stop them. Up the cliff I climbed. It seemed like it took forever just to reach half way up this cliff, and too much longer to reach the top. I was looking down at a dark forest. My eyes adjusted to the limited light. Just below me spewed a waterfall. It glowed with a teal tint. What odd water. I wanted to go down the cliff. I wanted to explore the new land, but my paws wouldn't move. It was like they were engraved in the stone they stood on. Like if they were apart of the stone itself. I fought the grip, but it was useless. It held me there, not giving in. I laid down, reserving my energy. I watched the land below me. Figures formed next to the water. A ghostly she wolf and three cubs. All of them almost see-through. It was odd. I squinted my eyes then fully shut them trying to clear my mind. When I reopened them there was just more wolves. Two more to be exact. They stood a ways off from the others. One of the wolves was too ghostly for me to see the features of, and the other was like a shadow. But I watched as the three pups ran up to the two wolves. The mother soon following. It seemed she was the concert of one of them. And the pups... they were theirs. But what of the third wolf?
I woke suddenly to the smell of blood. It was thick on the air. I could finally move my body to my will. I stood up, noticing Zillah oblivious to his surroundings, and Zigor eating a doe. I soon joined him. I never noticed the taste of the deer, I simply looked at Zillah. The dream was still thick on my mind. Abruptly I realize Zillah was that third wolf. The one that stared longingly at the others. Then the entire dream made since. I was the ghostly she-wolf... the cubs... the cubs were mine... and I... I was concerted. But to who? I become confused and slightly disgusted. I lost my appetite. Baking away from the deer, I realized that Zillah had asked me a question. "Um... ah... yeah... I... I guess." I was still too confused to think clearly. I was to be a mother... so the first dream, it... it wasn't just a... dream... I shook my head. I wouldn't let this dream drive me like the other did. No more would I pay mind to what seems like the future. Were-wolves don't have any special powers. They can't see the future. It isn't possible. I wouldn't believe it. "And how was your..." I looked up to the sky to see it was nearly sun down. "...evening?" I finished. I looked down to Zigor as he continued eating. I smiled as I noticed he had become rather plump since we had been feeding him. "Anything exciting?" I asked Zillah since he hadn't answered. It was odd for him to not answer me immediately, so I looked up at him. He was looking at me oddly so I only asked the obvious "What?"

Zevah was distracted, i could tell she had another dream...maybe the same...maybe not. "So how was your um...evening? anything interesting?" Zevah said, i think she was trying to prevent me from noticing that she was not either feeling the same or a dream like the one she had had. I looked at her, not worried but questioning. "What?" I guess she took the look the way it was meant, or she took it as a weird. Judging by the way she spoke, I would say she took it as weird. "Nothing. We should get Zigor back. Unless your willing to stay in the woods all night." I was gonna come back to this ledge later...in the night or the next day, whenever i could get away. That dream...it had made me wonder... could it be real? Or was it possibly a premonition of the near to far future? I will find out sooner or later. Zevah was now looking at me questioningly. "And now what do you want?"

There was something he wasn't telling me. I could seance it. It's odd presence among the norm. I looked up to the sky. It was fairly clear. It would be a lovely night. "Nothing... The weather looks clear. How bout we camp it out?" I turned away from him and trotted towards the forest, away from the cliff. Zigor was following, but Zillah wasn't. I stopped. "You coming?" I watched as he looked out towards the water, he then turned and nodded. I started to walk into the woods, but he still wasn't following. He was hesitating. Again I stopped. "Zillah, you wanna talk?" There was something troubling him. I watched as he stared at me. It was seldom that I asked if he wanted to talk. He always was asking me to talk it seemed. He shook his head. "Fine, I wont force you to talk, but I'm gunna go find a clearing so I can keep an eye on Zigor." I trotted into the forest "Come to me when you want to talk..." I said as the bushes covered my trail. Zigor stayed right on my trail. Never getting to curious over something and trying to wonder off. "It's a shame he isn't a pup..." I said out loud before I realized what I had actually said. It wasn't long before we came to a large clearing bordered by thorn bushes on three sides. "This'll be perfect." I walked around it a few times then flopped down in the dirt. Enjoying it's coolness. I let the wolf show in me as I lolled my tong. Zillah suddenly appeared. He chuckled at me. "I miss the days in the forest." I said to him as he sat down across from me. Zigor was rolling in the dirt like a puppy. Crazy cat has an identity crisis. Then again wolves did adopt him. "So... Is everything okay with you?" His wolfish smile disappeared and again he was staring at me. Was this something I did?

I followed Zevah into the forest. A rare thing happened. Zevah asked me if i wanted to talk. Me! Unsure of how to respond i just shook my head no. "Fine, I wont force you to talk, but I'm gunna go find a clearing so I can keep an eye on Zigor.Come to me when you want to talk." Zevah said this as she trotted into the undergrowth with Zigor following close after. I paused before following, and even when i did i was lost in thought. I came into the thorny clearing that Zevah had found to see her lying on the ground with her tongue lolling out. I chuckled slightly and my wolfish grin showed. I heard Zevah's words and my grin very quickly disappeared. "I'm fine..." I could tell Zevah didn't believe me. "Really, I'm fine. I just didn't sleep well." It wasn't a lie, but it also kinda was untrue. Zevah just gave me one of my looks and looked up in the air. I smelt another deer about a half mile to our left. "Theres another deer...You wanna get it or shall i?"

He claimed he was fine but I knew the difference. Zillah struggles to hide his physical emotions from me. Sometimes he manages it, most of the time, he doesn't. He was lying and my eyebrows furrowed. He again repeated himself only this time giving a reasoning. Not getting a good sleep isn't like Zillah. He slept like a bear in hibernation. Lucky him. It kinda bothered me for him to lie to me, but he obviously didn't want me to know of whatever was wrong. He'd come to me if it got to be too much for him. I gave up on asking him to talk. I looked up to the sky taking in a big whiff of the clean air. Deer, and it's close. "There's another deer...You wanna get it or shall i?" He asked me. I was in a particularly lazy mood. "I just ate, you go ahead." I watched as he nodded and began walking out of the clearing. Before he completely disappeared from sight i called after him, "I want the old Zillah back. Only one of us needs to be depressed... and it's not you." He didn't care to stop or reply, he just walked on. I rolled onto my back. Watching the sky get darker. Soon enough I was drifting off to sleep again. But I was awoken to quickly by Zigor jumping on me. He landed square on my exposed stomach which surprised me. I nosed him and said "What are you doing, little one?" I caught the sent of blood and turned my head to see Zillah had been watching us. What did this look like to him? But he had a smile on his face. "How was the hunt?" I asked him as he realized I was looking at him. But as I continued to look at Zillah the latest dream returned. I couldn't allow Zillah to be alone. He deserved to be with someone he would always love. Someone he would even choose over me. The vision cleared and I realized he was still staring at me. Had I missed his answer? No, he hadn't answered. "Zillah, why do you continue to stare at me?" my eyes narrowed at him slightly. It was starting to become uncomfortable.

I didn't bother to reply to Zevah. It would be pointless. I caught up with the dear about a minute later stalking it the same way i did the last one. The results were pretty much the same. Just this time i prevented the blood from dripping into the ground. I got to the grove in about the same amount of time it had took me to catch up with and kill the deer. I walked in just as Zigor pounced on Zevah's upturned stomach. I grinned as i laughed on the inside not wanting to disturb. Instead i just stared. I lost myself in the joy they were having. I think i dozed off with my eyes open cause i got my senses back when Zevah asked me why I was staring at her. "I don't know..." i said as i dragged the Deer farther into the clearing. I had suddenly lost any want for meat. I just wanted to go back to the ledge. Zigor started to eat the deer as Zevah just stared at me with her eyes narrowed. I laid down and closed my eyes trying to get some rest before i went over to the ledge for a restless sleep.
I woke up a while later. Zevah and Zigor were asleep. It was time that i went to the ledge. Right as I reached the edge of the clearing Zevah's voice asked me what i was doing.
