It was a warmer night. Zevah and I were going on a hunt. It had been a while so we chose the place where most humans wouldn't go. We had caught the scent of a bobcat at least fifteen minutes ago. "This must be a big bobcat for it to run this fast." It reminded me of the time when we left our pack, the Vahkyetta. Running to get Zevah away from Morsts ugly paws. That was four years ago. The scent was getting stronger. I could tell we were almost on it. "I wonder where its heading..." We were heading deeper into the forest. And I mean really deep. The city that we came from was fifty minutes behind us, if we lost the scent it would probably mean a night in the forest. It wasn't that bad of a thought, sleeping in the forest. The only problem with that would be the fog.

Silent thuds against the ground as the land streamed out behind. A ghost and it's shadow stirring the fog. Only tail lengths ahead ran the prey for fear of its life. Had the prey seen this coming or was it taken completely by surprise?
My heart was in my throat and excitement gleamed threw my eyes. How great it felt to be stretching my stiff limbs after sustaining my human form for so long. We were playing with this creature who ran as fast as it could. We could easily out run it because of our greater speed granted to us by being were's. Zillah and I always left the city to go and hunt, not trusting enough to morph in front of its people. We never ate the contaminated food that was cooked around the city but still remaining the wolves we are and hunting our prey. I figured we had enough fun with this snack in front of us and before it even knew it i was running along beside it. It swerved to the right and i dropped back beside Zillah. "Lets make this a real game! You go off to the left about 500 yards ahead of it and ill push it over to you." Zillah grinned and did precisely what I said. Once again the bobcat was dumbstruck as I appeared to its side and I laughed out loud as it almost ran head first into the tree. barely missing it. It played right into the plan as it began dodging the trees and moving left. Oh how much fun this is! I followed right beside it, only edging inches back as it noticed Zillah now to its immediate left. I snapped at its hind leg, missing purposely, to make the creature run harder. I made eye contact with Zillah and he shook his head at me so I sighed and tripped the cat. It slammed head first into a tree, most likely breaking its neck or collarbone or possibly even its spinal cord. But it didn't move any more and him and I came to an elaborated stop. "Well, that was fun. Do you want this one? I can wait til the next." I looked up to see him with one ear laid on his head and his tong lolling out of his mouth. I laughed and nudged him with a paw. "You'll never change Zillah." There was a rustle in the bushes and my head snapped around to the area the sound was generated from.

I ran exactly 500 yards to the left then dashed ahead. It was like Zevah to play with the hunt. The bobcat was coming closer and closer to me. When I was at its immediate left the fun began. veering left and getting attacked, veering right and getting nipped at by Zevah. When this got boring Zevah was still playing with the bobcat. She nipped at the bobcats hind legs and laughed as it almost ran head on into a tree. She looked over to me with a playful yet wondering look in her eyes. She wanted to play with the bobcat some more. I shook my head. enough was enough. I saw her sigh as she tripped the bobcat. It hit a tree pretty hard, probably ribs ripped through the lungs and the collar bone through the heart. "Well, that was fun. Do you want this one? I can wait till the next." Zevah said after the woods had gone silent. My tongue was drooping out of my mouth and my ear was resting on my head. I was hungry but Zevah could eat first. Zevah laughed and nudged me with a paw. "You'll never change Zillah." A sound came from behind the tree that the bobcat had crashed into both of our heads immediately looked in that direction. One can never be to careful with sounds, it might be a human. Luckily for us it wasnt human, it was a young bobcat kit. by the looks of it, it was only five to six weeks old. The color of the bobcat was a brownish black. Zevah was looking at it with a kind of "oh its so cute, can we keep him" look.

I growled as I became more cautious. The rustling stopped long enough to watch as a small bobcat kit, no more then five or six weeks old, leap out at us. I smiled as it landed in front of my paws hissing its poor little head off at us. I had a weakness for baby felines. Nobody knew but Zillah. Guilt instantly took over as I realized we had just killed its mother. The puny kit jumped up at my face and swatted at me, missing, I instantly gave him credit for being so courageous at such a young age. The last time we had killed a mother only Zillah ate from it. Zillah would be the only one eating from this one, and he already knew that. I leaned down to the little kit and licked its head. It instantly settled down, it was amazing. It was the first time I've seen a bobcat of this coloring, it was almost a shadow instead of bark as it's mother was. I looked up at Zillah. He already knew what I was going to ask. "I'll take care of him, he wont even take up that much space. He isn't even old enough to survive out here alone." I sat down where I stood and the kitten ran under my front paws and sat there below me. I realized I wouldn't let Zillah talk me out of this one. I would take this one home with us and raise him to be apart of our pack. This one would get to live. I leaned down and picked up the kit by the scurf of its neck, the creature falling limp instantly. I walked over to Zillah and placed the kitten gently in front of him. It looked up at him, with it's auburn eyes wide. It was like the small creature that stood in front of us understood what was happening. I was waiting for Zillah to react to the young bobcat but he just stood there. Everything was silent until the feline mewed at Zillah. My heart almost fell out my chest at the poor creatures cry for acceptance.

The moment I saw the little bobcat i knew what was going to happen. Zevah wouldn't be eating from this bobcat, this had happened before. She looked over to me and I knew what she was going to ask. "I'll take care of him, he wont even take up that much space. He isn't even old enough to survive out here alone." I didn't say anything as she lied down and held the kitten in her paws for a second. Nor did i speak when she picked it up and dropped him in front of me. Only after he cried for acceptance did i speak. "Well...i guess were gonna have to find some food for the both of you, seeing as neither of you will eat this bobcat." They both looked away as I quikly ate the bobcat. It didnt take me long to finish eating. "Come on, I know a spot where we can eat some young horses."

My head drooped and I sighed in relief as Zillah finally agreed to the kitten. I picked my head up just in time and I saw the kit bounding across to me. He launched himself at me, landing square on my chest. I didn't feel it, and I raised my right paw to hold him there, as if to cradle him in my arms, and licked the top of his forehead. I looked up at Zillah as he crouched down next to the body of the dead bobcat. I kept the small creature where I had him so that he didn't see Zillah devouring his mother. I didn't hold it against Zillah for eating the prey we chased and killed, but I wouldn't join him in the feasting just yet. He didn't take long to clean it down to the bones. We could eat the bones very easily, but it was harder for us to digest the bigger bones, so we left them and would just find another prey. As Zillah finished, and licked the blood from his mouth I let the kitten out of my grip and listened for what Zillah wanted to do next.
I picked the small one up by his scruff, and followed Zillah as he started off at a trot, and then was sprinting as he realized the kitten wouldn't be walking with us. My speed never wavered as the small kitten swung from my mouth. He never even mew in defiance or pain. This was the way the mother carried it's baby, the way my mother carried me in her wolf form, and the way I now carry this bobcat kit. I realized The kit needed a name, and I murmured through the fur that pastured my tong. "Zillah, he needs a name." I knew he heard me as my stride meet his equally. Zillah was more powerful then me, but I was faster and more stealth then him. Zillah began to slow down, so I did the same, and as he stopped, so did I. Laying the kitten down on the ground, and asked the question again. "What should we name him, Zillah?" I kept my voice low as I realized we were close to the horses. I nuzzled the kitten as it looked up at me in confusion.

We were heading off for the horses, i started at a trot thinkin the kit would be walking. but seeing it being carried by Zevah I went to a sprint.
We were almost to the horses when Zevah asked what we should name him. We stopped a little bit before the horses and Zevah asked again what we should name him. The kitten looked at us in confusion as if wondering what we were speaking about. It took me a little bit to make a descision. "lets feed you two then we'll think of a name." Zevah nodded and tucked the kittin in a hollow in a tree. The horses were young and, by the looks of it, well exercised. "I think one will be fine, be careful of humans they're usually very watchful of their horses." The horses looked scittish almost like they had heard us coming, although that was close to impossible. "pick out the one you want. I'll draw it away from the herd."

Zillah stood there again, looking down at the kitten in a sort of dismissive way. It took him moments to make any kind of decision. He wanted to feed us first, so I merely nodded. I found a tree with a hallow where I could tuck the little guy. Placing him gently down in the whole, I had to make him realize he was to stay. I touched his forehead with my cold nose and applied a little pressure. He immediately sat down so I figured he would stay. Moving back to Zillah, and glancing behind me a few times to make sure he didn't follow.
I shrugged off his statement. He should know by now that I dont let anyone do the work in my hunts. I didn't say a word but merely began circling around using the woods. We were lucky, there wasn't a breeze today. I noticed a pair of horses that were away from the rest, I could easily separate them and take the bigger for myself and the little guy. I positioned myself in their direction but a little ways off. I had an idea. I would run the two horses into the woods, that would mean we'd get both of them as long as Zillah is ready for them. I took off at a great speed and slowed down to a normal wolf speed to insure the plan would work. It did. The horses ran right into the woods, Zillah was there, and took out the smaller of the two. He yelled at me as I continued to run after the larger one. I ran up behind it, and at it's pace. It noticed I was there and kicked at me. It came close but I awaited for it to do it again. In a flash the horse kicked, only this time I was ready and I grabbed onto his foot and locked my jaw and stopped in my tracks. The horse hit the ground and I snapped its neck with my jaws before it could cause a ruckus. I sat there and awaited Zillah to appear so that I could go get the kitten, so we could both eat.

Zevah shrugged, she doesn't really like anyone doing the work in her hunts. This was fine with me. I saw her note two horses away from the general herd. I knew she would go for the larger of the two, so i went and waited where i could easily jump out and take the smaller one. The two horses were heading my way. Pretty fast...for a horse i mean. I lunged out and snapped the neck of the smaller horse, the big one was moving farther out so i shouted for Zevah to get it before we would have to carry the cub very far. I dragged the smaller horse under a tree where the humans would most likely not find it. I heard a quick surprised noise from the larger horse before it went silent. I followed the scent of the horse and Zevah to the corpse. The right hind leg was almost torn completely off and blood was dripping onto the forest floor. "Go get the kit, this should be enough for the both of you I think."
I laid down and waited for both of them to return. "ZILLAH! The kits gone!" I sprang up and ran to wards the hollow marking the place of the larger horse in my mind. "Any clue where he went? Maybe tried to...Thats it! I'm pretty sure i know where he is, come on." I raced off to the tree where the smaller horse was with Zevah literally right on my tracks. What when i reached the horse made me burst out in laughter. "The kits feisty ill give you that" The kit had come to where I was when I shouted to Zevah. the kit had eaten a little bit of the horse when we arrived and looked sad, almost a 'I wasn't supposed to go here was I?' look.

Looking over at the horse I realized that I had nearly ripped the hind leg off of it. I could feel the drool building up as I stared at it. I sighed to myself as Zillah showed up. Before I said anything he had already told me to go get the kitten. So I shrugged and trotted off. I wouldn't start eating til the rest of the pack is present. As I neared the hollow with the kitten I noticed something was different. His scent was missing. My pace quickened. I was right. Peaking into the hole, I grew panicked. I searched the immediate area for him and cursed myself for not giving him a name. Would make it easier to find him by calling his name instead of lil' guy. I ran back to Zillah and as soon as he came into sight I told him the problem. "Zillah! The kits gone!"
He sprang up to my surprise and began running towards the hollow. I followed right in his trail, not sparing an inch. He said he knew where he was and my heart instantly settled in my chest. He led me back along the trail I took to circle the horses, and stopped where I had herd the horses into the forest. The kittens scent littered the trail he sprinted across. Though what we next saw, made us both laugh. The kitten was already eating the smaller horse. It looked up at us as we boomed with laughter. Licking it's lips wouldn't help him because he had blood smeared across his face and down his chest. He bore this sad face that tried to plead his innocence. I walked around Zillah and to the kitten. I cuffed him playfully over the right ear. "You scared me to death, Zigor." I tried to think when I had decided to call him this. I shrugged it off and looked over to Zillah with the question in my expression. It blended in with our name; Zillah, Zayevah and Zigor. The kitten sat there, looking up at me with a question of his own in his body language.

I suppose it was a good name...Zigor did blend with Zillah and Zayevah... "Hmm...Zigor it is then." The small kit looked up in question then went back to eating the horse. "Help him finish off this horse then the three of us will eat the larger one." Zevah and Zigor finished the horse fairly quickly but the larger one went quicker. We all licked our lips and groomed the blood out of our fur. We all then walked to the edge of the woods with the fog blowing out on the wind as we reached the border of the forest. We transformed into our human forms and Zevah let out a slight groan of distaste. "We must hunt more often now Zevah. Zigor will not be nourished well enough on the human raw meat."
The hunt felt good. It had been a while since the last hunt. We were now three and i had a feeling the little kitten would be troublesome in the house. We both knew we would be in our true forms more often now.

Zillah agreed to the name, and without another moment to spare, newly named Zigor, went back to eating. I shrugged and joined him as Zillah had said. I knew I became slightly more aggressive while I ate if anyone interrupted me, so I moved to the opposite side of the horse. I felt as my mind changed when I bit into the horse, the blood rushing to fill my mouth. The horse began to disappear, leaving only the larger bones. It had been about a week and a half since the last hunt. Zillah and I have learned to space our hunts out, so it doesn't seem suspicious of us spending an evening away but no where to be found. I didn't like waiting very long, it was distasteful to be in my human form, and if it was up to me, I'd be in my wolf form more then every evening. My mind cleared enough to realize the horse was almost gone and the kitten was getting closer to me. If I couldn't stop myself from eating then there's a possibility that Zigor would get hurt. I urged myself, forced myself, to stop eating. I moved away from the horse, sitting next to the nearest tree. Both Zillah and Zigor looked at me wearily. I gave a half-hearted smile and licked my lips of the blood. Zigor went back to eating, but Zillah continued to watch me. He knew what happened when he got too close while we were eating. He normally was the one who would back off. The kitten sat plumply down after finishing the last scraps up.
The three of us walked over to the larger horse. The kitten looked at us like we were crazy. I guessed he wasn't used to eating so much, but he'd get used to it. Right? Well, he'd eat his share of it. I began to eat the horse that laid in front of us, and Zillah positioned himself opposite of me. Zigor sat and watched. I let myself go after realizing the kitten wouldn't be eating this one. The horse tasted so much better when I wasn't holding myself back. Then I felt something between my front legs, and out of the corner of my eyes I saw Zigor. I instantly started growling. It was a deep growl, one with plenty of warning, and it only got louder. Zigor became frightened and instantly laid down in submission. But I didn't care, the growling continued. Zillah barked at me. I didn't hear what he said. He said something again. I tried to listen. The growling quieted. He repeated what he had said. "Zevah, it's just Zigor!" I had heard him. My eyes closed as I tried to clam myself. The growling stopped completely. I stepped away from the horse that was over half gone. Lowering my head to Zigor's reach. "I'm sorry Zigor." I was ashamed of myself. I wouldn't let it happen again. Zillah finished the horse. I think he was ashamed of me too, because he didn't say anything more until we got home.
I sighed as I realized I had to transform back into my human form. We walked to the area we had left our clothes. Slipping into the black corset and same colored jeans, I walked back over to join Zigor and Zillah who waited for me. "We must hunt more often now Zevah. Zigor will not be nourished well enough on the human raw meat." He spoke without looking at me. I grunted as I looked down at my human form. He was probably still disappointed with me. I didn't blame him. My long, black hair that laid around me, blew behind me as the wind wiped against our forms. "I don't have a problem with that." I would enjoy changing more often. I picked Zigor up in my arms. It occurred to me that this was probably very odd to him. He thought he was adopted by wolves but we ended up being more then that. But, when I looked at him, he looked perfectly normal, and comfortable as I cradled him in my arms. More and more did this cat amaze me. We continued to walk towards the house as we were still probably a good mile and a half away. I looked over to Zillah, who finally looked back at me. I watched as he sighed. I wondered what he was thinking. I smiled and took off running. Looking back I watched as he shook his head and rolled his eyes and began running after me. Not only did our wolf form have incapable speeds for wolves, but so did our human forms to humans. We could outrun any human easily. If I wanted to I could have ran way ahead of Zillah, me being faster, but I slowed as if the weight of the kitten effected me. He ran up to my side, and smiled. I rolled my eyes and pushed him aside with my free arm. Smiling as he almost tripped over himself, I sped back up. He noticed that I was just messing with him, and he ran as hard as he could. But, he still didn't catch up to me. If he did, and he pushed me back like I did him, not only I would go sailing but so would Zigor. Zillah made it a point to know he was stronger then me, which is why I always ran, because I'm faster then him. We never took it seriously, it was simply a game. The house came into view and so did the open land so I stopped at the edge of the woods. Stepping slowly out into the grass with my bare feet. Zillah soon joined me. Nudging me with a hand. I smiled at him "I'm still faster." I said, laughing afterward.
I watched in awe as I released Zigor and he immediately began running about the house. So far, he hadn't broke anything. I shook my head and walked into the living room, plopping down on the leather couch. Then it happened. Crash! Thunk! And a growl from Zigor. I almost leaped out of the chair, walking into the kitchen. Zillah joined from the opposite side of the room. I couldn't help but laugh as I saw what Zigor had growled at. The microwave laid in the floor along with the coffee pot. The stove was open and Zigor was staring at his reflection. Zigor's ears laid flat on his head and his back was arched in the air, his mouth laying open as a hissing sound came from him. My body bent over in laughter. It was hilarious to see. Suddenly Zigor leaped at the coffee pot and jolted backwards to land on the inside of the stove door. The stove closed and Zigor was slung into it. I ran over and jerked open the stove to see Zigor laying flat on the rack with black muck all over him. I began to laugh vigorously again.

Running to-wards the house and bumping into each other was always what we did after a hunt. Zevah was trying to play with my head as she slowed acting like the kitten was holding her down. 'Always full of games' We reached the house and Zevah said "I'm still faster." I bumped her on the arm for the comment. It wasn't a hard bump just enough to move her over a little bit. We entered the house and Zevah put Zigor on the ground. He dashed to the kitchen and Zevah went into the living room. I went around sort of following Zigor to make sure he didn't get into a lot of trouble. A sudden crash from the kitchen made me run into the kitchen only to laugh out loud. Zigor was attacking the kitchen appliances. He leaped at the coffee pot and landed into the oven. The door bounced shut launching him into the oven. I laughed even harder as Zevah leaped over to the oven and threw it open revealing a black mountain cat. "He's gonna need a bath...and I'm not doing it." Zevah looked at me with a glare that said 'You're going to help whether you like it or not.' "OK OK I'll help..."
After the kitten was washed he ran around the house some more, but the kitchen was closed off. He had already tried to gnaw on one of the tables, claw the furniture, and eat the lamp. "Wheres he gonna sleep?" The question was indirect but urgent. I personally wanted to lock him in a room until morning. "He should..." We heard another crash as i was about to finish my sentence. "Whats he gotten into now?" We rushed to the crash which came from the living room. I was shocked at what the Zigor did. "He knocked down three lamps...Well I'll clean this up...you give him a room." Zigor looked at me with a look that said 'I got the bright sticks I got the bright sticks.' I sighed and cleaned up the mess as Zevah took him to a room.

The laughter subsided and my breathe calmed. Though, as usual, Zillah said he wouldn't help. This time he'd be helping, because Zigor isn't just my responsibility, it's his too. I glared at him with my all original 'you better be changing your mind.... real fast.' look. The same look my father used on me when I was younger, and trying to get into as much trouble as I could manage. Even Zillah knew the look. I smiled as the look worked. Reaching into the stove I pulled out the dazed Zigor and moved to the sink. "Here should be fine." The kitten was smaller than the sink it sat in. Zigor stayed very calm... until the water was cut on. He started freaking out, and this is where I realized cats are annoying. What is it with them and water? They drink it every day! The water started flying ans soup went everywhere. Zillah and I ended up getting completely soaked. When we finally won the battle and got Zigor washed and dried. I shook my head and stepped out of the kitchen with Zigor in my hands. "Would you mind finding something to block this kitchen off with, please?" I asked Zillah on the way out. I waited for Zillah to block the kitchen off and then let Zigor go again. I sighed as I watched him take off again. I thought Zigor was settled down enough, as Zillah and I sat down on the couch. But that only lasted a few sentences worth.
"Where's he gonna sleep?" Zillah asked indirectly. I didn't answer him but instead tried to think of a way to get Zillah to let him sleep in his room. "He should..." Zillah was cut off as crashes from the next room pulled his attention away. We both jumped up in unison to go discover the mess. "Whats he gotten into now?" Zillah asked before we turned the corner. I cursed under my breath as I saw he had broken the bran new lamps I had just bought the other day. "He knocked down the three lamps. Well I'll clean this up...you give him a room." I sighed as I heard Zillah. Stepping over to the Kitten and leaning down to pick him up, I saw Zillah looking at either me or Zigor in an odd way. Though I figured it was Zigor, as Zillah isn't used to having cats running around our house. In fact, he isn't used to having any one running around our house. Neither was I. The only time we have ran around the house was when we first bought it and before it had any furniture. Funny thing is... The walls almost didn't make it. That's when we really noticed over strength. We used to live in caves which are much more sturdy and strong then walls. I really didn't mind it, though I think it's time to hire a maid.
I walked up the stairs. How could I play off getting the kitten to stay in Zillah's room? How could I even get Zillah to agree? He'd never agree. I'll just leave him in his room and deal with it as Zillah finds out. A smile formed across my face. Zillah will become more attached to this kitten then what he thinks he will. I opened the door to Zillah's room, and looked around. I didn't visit his room often. Actually, I hardly ever even think about going into his room. The only time I had been in his room was the same day we ran around the house... this was where he cornered me at... I sat Zigor down on Zillah's bed "Stay." I told the kitten. He looked at me like I was insane but he listened. I walked out of the room and down the hall to the linen closet. I pulled out two blankets and walked back into Zillah's room. I was amazed to see the kitten actually stayed exactly where I sat him. I folded the two blankets together and laid them on the floor next to the bed. I looked back up at Zigor to realize he was already half asleep. "He's just like a real kid..." I spoke out loud. I heard a short chuckle and turned around to see Zillah leaning in the doorway. "Heh... ah... heya Zillah." I smiled at him as he shook his head at me.

I shook my head at Zevah, she was in my room with the kitten. "As i thought you were going to do." It was only natural of her to put Zigor in my room. She wanted us to bond more but i wasn't' feeling very...Bondy. I could agree with this, as long as it was temporary. "He can sleep here for tonight but after that we need to find him a different room." I walked into the room and settled the blankets on the floor next to the bed. I couldn't believe i had let this happen. We had a cat. A CAT! I don't like cats that much. But this one i was willing to put up with...for now... I left the room and went back down into the living room to finish picking up the tiny slivers of glass that still scattered the carpet.
Later in the evening, the house had settled and Zigor was asleep. I had two tiny slivers stuck in my hand, but i didnt feel like taking them out. I turned on the tv we had and flipped through the channels looking for the wild life channels. Finally after a couple of flips i got the wild life channel. Ironically enough it was playing a story about bobcats. Zevah walked in and had this funny look on her face. "Is there somethin wrong?"
